Jay (Segel) and Annie (Diaz) must scramble to contain the damage from their kids, the neighbors, their bosses, their parents and even the mailman.
But their success is mixed at best and the reaction of those who receive the tape via “the cloud” are just as varied.
Diaz and Segel were hilarious in the 2011 film “Bad Teacher,” and their chemistry is just as volatile as ever.
The movie’s premise is basically this: After ten years and two kids, the sizzle has gone out of their marriage, although Diaz has an incredible body, so it’s hard to see how anyone could be tired of it.
In any event, they decide a sex tape is the key, so they film themselves for three hours trying out every position in “The Joy of Sex,” an illustrated sex manual first published in 1972.
The video does the trick. But the tape gets away from them when it’s automatically uploaded to Jay’s cloud account. “It went up to the cloud!” Diaz’s character screeches. And you can’t get it down from the cloud?”
“Nobody understands the cloud!” Segel yells back. “It’s a f**king mystery!”
The high-speed chase down the Information Highway to head it off before the Whole World Wide web sees it is an insane series of slap-stick events.
The film hits theaters July 25 in the middle of the summer block-buster season.
Footnote: This is a red band trailer, altough the rating has to do with foul language and racy, although non-nude, scenes.
