Cranston plays Joseph “Joe” Brody, a nuclear physicist who works at Janjira nuclear plant which spawns Godzilla because of its radioactive waste.
The film also stars a solid cast with Aaron Taylor-Johnson playing Lt. Ford Brody, Elizabeth Olsen as Elle Brody, Ford’s wife, Juliette Binoche as Sandra Brody, Ford’s mother, and Ken Watanabe as Dr. Serizawa.
Godzilla is an oft-told tale going back to the Japanese original in 1954. No less than 28 Japanese Godzilla films have been made since then along with four American versions.
What sets this picture apart is modern CGI, which breathes new life into Godzilla and makes him bigger and badder than ever. The scenes of destruction are also super realistic.
There’s even a tsunami scene that has been modeled after a real tsunami that struck northern Japan a few years ago.
But not much can top Cranston’s blood-curdling screams. “What appears to be happening is you’re hiding something out there!” he screeches. “And I have a right to know!”
His next outburst comes after incredible scenes of destruction.
“You have no idea what’s coming,” he implores. “And it’s going to send us back to the stone age!”
The film hits theaters May 16. Until then, check out the trailer below and be sure to follow TheImproper on Twitter for the latest movie news.
