The scene is chaotic inside LA County Hospital’s trauma unit in the documentary ‘Code Black.’

Ryan McGarry, a doctor at Los Angeles County Hospital, provides an eye-opening account of the non-stop, heart-pounding action in the hospital’s legendary trauma center in a new trailer for the documentary “Code Black.”

The film won the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Hamptons International Film Festival for best documentary last year.

McGarry provides unprecedented access to America’s busiest hospital emergency room. “If you’re an outsider this looks like total chaos. Yet, I see unity in the chaos. There’s a team here coming together to save someone’s life,” says an intern in a voiceover.

The documentary involves real life and death situations. It follows a team of young doctors-in-training as they get their first taste of a scene where “more people have died and more people have been saved than in any other square footage in the United States.”

The documentary is filmed through a “doctor’s-eye view,” and takes on today’s health care debate head on.

McGarry and Joshua Altman wrote the documentary and four doctors are among the executive producers.
