Chris Evans Talks Capt. America’s Fight Scenes in New Featurettes

Chris Evans as Captain American battles the Winter Soldier in one of several fight scenes from the movie. A new featurette shows how it’s done.

Captain America’s fight scenes are detailed in a new featurette released today (Aug. 8) from “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Chris Evans does some of the talking and most of the fighting in the clip.

The Marvel Avenger “doesn’t fly or shoot lightning bolts, he punches and kicks,” explains Evans, who plays the character.

That’s because alter-ego Steve Rogers in the film has undergone an experimental treatment that’s transformed him from a 90-pound weakling into a super strong warrior.

The sequel to 2011’s “Captain America: The First Avenger” and the ninth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is set two years after the Battle of New York.

Steve is working in Washington D.C. for the espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D. under Director Nick Fury, while learning the ropes of modern-day America.

His battles in the film are intense and choreographed down to the most minute detail.

“It’s very meat and potatoes,” says Evans. “So with that type of combat to make it cool I think you have the liberty to get a rougher feel.”

The featurettes are the third and fourth of four included with the DVD release of the movie. Yesterday, Marvel released similar featurettes showing Scarlett Johansson in action as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow.

Directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are featured in the first clip. They talked about how they put the “super” into the “Super Soldier.”

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will be available on Blu-Ray, Sept 9. You can pre-order it now to beat the rush at by clicking here or on the above link.
