Jessica Lange leads a troupe of “freaks” in a new trailer for the upcoming season of “American Horror Story” that includes a two-headed woman who mimicks real-life conjoined twins, Abigail Hensel and Brittany Hensel.

Sarah Paulson plays the “American Horror Story” two-headed woman, known as Bette and Dot.

The character is painfully close to mimicking the twins, who have tried their entire lives to be considered normal.

Abby and Brittany are now in their 20s and leading healthy, normal lives. So seeing a two-headed woman being portrayed as a “freak” might be a little unsettling. The character even shares the same head angles.

The show owes them an apology.

Abby and Brittany Hensel are real-life conjoined twins.

Abby and Brittany Hensel are real-life conjoined twins.

Abby and Brittany, known as dicephalus twins, are extremely rare. Conjoined twins are born once in every 40,000 births, on average, and only one percent of those survive birth.

They have two hearts, two spines joined at the pelvis, four lungs, two esophagi, three kidneys, one ribcage, one liver, a partially shared nervous system and a shared circulatory system.

From their waist down, they are one person, including the reproductive system, intestines and bladder.

Although they are independent, and each controls one side of the body, they can perform coordinated tasks together like riding a bike, swinging a bat or driving a car.

“American Horror Story: Freak Show” premieres Oct. 8 on the FX cable network.

Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe, Frances Conroy and Denis O’Hare are returning for the fourth season.

They’ll be joined by newcomers Matt Bomer, Patti LaBelle, John Carroll Lynch and Finn Wittrock, according to the show.
