Kirsten, who began acting as a child, scored a major breakout role in the 1994 film “Interview With a Vampire,” starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.
She was only 10 at the time, and called a kissing scene with Pitt “gross.” She was noted for her eeriness in the film, and many of her roles since then have had the same ephemeral quality.
She appeared in a string of indie films before opting for a big-budget movie series, “Spider-Man” in 2002. She played Mary Jane Watson to Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker in three films.
She scored international critical acclaim in Lars von Trier’s 2011 film “Melancholia,” which involved several nude scenes.
She won the best actress award at the Cannes Film Festival, although she was passed over for Oscar and Golden Globe nominations.
Her latest films are “The Two Faces of January,” a British-American thriller and “Midnight Special,” a science fiction film that is currently in production.
In the Vs. shoot, photographed by Kayt Jones and styled by Hailey Atkin, she channels a ’50s-era film noir damsel who goes through a destructive break up.
Her personal life, however, is far more grounded. She’s been dating Garret Hedlund since they both appeared together in the 2012 film “On the Road,” with Kristen Stewart and Sam Riley.
