Olsen is joined by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who plays her character’s twin Quicksilver, and Director Joss Whedon.
Both characters are new to Marvel’s Avenger film series and both bring unique powers to the Avengers team. Scarlet has telekinetic powers and Quicksilver can move as fast as a speeding bullet.
The clip provides the first in-depth look at what Whedon calls “massively important new characters.” They may be twins, but their powers and their personalities are polar opposites.
“They are brother and sister. He’s fast and quick and anxious and she’s grounded and thoughtful,” says Olsen.
Wanda and Pietro Maximoff are twins who were orphaned at 10 years old when their apartment building was collapsed by an explosion. “They only have one another. It’s kind of them against the world,” says Taylor-Johnson.
They are thrown together with the Avengers after Tony Stark unleashes a self-aware, self-teaching, artificial intelligence known as Ultron, which quickly decides the biggest threat to earth is mankind.
Utrons army of automatons sets out to destroy humanity, posing the biggest challenge to the Avengers in their history. But their alliance with the Maximoff’s is an uneasy one.
The latest in the Avengers series hits theaters May 1 ahead of the summer blockbuster season.
