Daniel Craig is back as James Bond in the first new trailer for “Spectre,” the latest film in the Bond series. The installment has had a star-crossed history. It was caught up in the massive leak of Sony internal emails by a North Korean hack.

Indeed, the script’s journey to the big screen is fill with almost as much intrigue as the film itself.

How New James Bond Film is Going From Grotesque to Merely Awful

When the emails leaked last December, they revealed that Sony honchos were having conniptions over the script and the film’s spiraling cost.

The initial script apparently flunked all the way around. So Sony called in a couple of fixit writers, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who saved the last Bond movie, “Skyfall.” But even they couldn’t work their magic.

Screenwriter Jez Butterworth, was pulled into the project to “rewrite” and “tweak” story lines. Even then, Sony execs were left wringing their hands over the ending. Hopefully it’s been fixed.

John Logan, Purvis and Wade get the screenwriting credit. Sam Mendes directs a cast that includes Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Rory Kinnear, Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Monica Bellucci, David Bautista and Andrew Scott.

Seydoux is especially sexy as the latest Bond girl.

In the latest trailer, Craig exhibits all of Bond’s traits, including his dry wit. He’s shown infiltrating a secret meeting and uncoverinh the existence of the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE.

Meanwhile, his boss, M, played by Fiennes, who takes over from Judi Dench, must fight a back-office political battle to keep the secret service alive so Bond can track down the mysterious Heinrich Stockmann, who also uses the alias Franz Oberhauser (Waltz).
