Kate Winslet looks fantastic a week from turning 40 (Oct. 5), but makes clear in a new interview she stays fit for her kids, “who need me more than I need for myself to be in a fucking nude scene.” Winslet has shot more than a few. She’s the queen of nude scenes.

She won a Best Actress Oscar for her role in the 2008 film “The Reader,” about a Nazi prison guard who has a post-war affair with a young student.

The role called for a number of nude scenes, including full-frontal shots. In all, Winslet has appeared nude in nine different movies over the course of her career, including 1994’s “Heavenly Creatures.” She was just 17 at the time.

She is one of the most nominated actresses in Oscars history and was naked in four of her six nominated roles.

As it turns out, “The Reader” was the last film in which she doffed her clothes. She vowed afterward, at 33, never to do a movie nude scene again. She claimed she was too old to take off her clothes.

Kate has starred in 10 films since then, including the “Divergent” series with Shailene Woodley. She also stars in three upcoming films, “Steve Jobs,” with Michael Fassbinder, “The Dressmaker,” an Australian comedy-drama, and “Triple Nine,” a crime drama.

“We all focus on our bodies in our late teens and our early 20s, in a way that is just not cool or healthy,” she told The Wall Street Journal magazine.

“In your 30s, you become aware of staying fit. Now I view my physical self as an instrument that I have to keep going because I’m a mother, and I have to be as healthy as I can for those three people who need me—more than I need for myself to be in a f—ing nude scene,” she adds.

Winslet has been married three times.

She has a daughter, Mia Honey Threapleton, 15, with first husband, Director Jim Threapleton. and a son, Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes, with second husband Sam Mendes, also a director.

She married third husband Ned Rocknroll in 2012. They also have a child together, son Bear Blaze Winslet, whom Winslet apparently refused to give her husband’s adopted surname.

Here’s what else she had to say about her marriages and divorces:

“No one really knows what has happened in my life. No one really knows why my first marriage didn’t last; no one knows why my second didn’t. And I’m proud of those silences. I know lots of people who are not in the public eye who have gone through several marriages, I really do, and it’s just those are the cards that life dealt me. I didn’t plan on its being that way. And fuck me, it hasn’t been easy, you know.”

On dealing with tabloid attention and celebrity:

“No one teaches you, and also no one particularly helps you . It’s a very specific thing to ask people to understand. ‘So-and-so was mean about me in the newspaper.’ ‘Oh, just ignore it.’ But you can’t, because it’s not true. I’ve always been so uncomfortable with [being a celebrity]. I just don’t feel like one, and I don’t live like one either— not the way I imagine a proper movie star living.”

Why she keeps her Oscar in the bathroom:

“The whole point is for everybody to pick it up and go, ‘I’d like to thank my son and my dad’—and you can always tell when someone has, because they’re in there a little bit longer after they flushed. They’ll come out looking slightly pink-cheeked. It’s hysterical.”
