Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph are putting a new twist to on old story-line about a maid of honor and her bride best friend in the Judd Apatow-produced comedy “Bridesmaids.”
The film was screened at the South-by-Southwest festival and a new trailer has just been released that features Wiig and Rudolph.
Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy, Matt Lucas, Jill Clayburgh and Rose Byrne also co-star and Paul Feig, of “Freaks and Geeks” fame, directs. Barry Mendel and Clayton Townsend are also producers.
The film, incidentally, marks the final big-screen appearance for Clayburgh, who died last November from leukemia.
In the film, Lillian (Rudolph) and Annie (Wigg) are best friends. Annie lives a lonely life with her roommate who is a creepy girl that looks through her diary.
The trailer opens with Annie grousing that she is in her 30s and $40,000 in debt with not much to look forward to in life.
She gets the big news about Lillian’s engagement and readily accepts being maid of honor, with all of its intendant duties. That’s where things go awry.
All hell breaks lose when they travel to Vegas for the party that none of them will forget.
There’s plenty of bathroom humor and sexual innuendo in the R-rated movie, which got good reviews at SXSW.
The fill will be released domestically on May 13. Check out the clip below:
