Katrina Bowden, who plays Tina Fey’s assistant on NBC’s “30 Rock” was considered the Butler of Esquire’s “Sexiest Woman Alive” tournament. Except she won
She bested supermodel Brooklyn Decker, the Duke of sexidom and the odds-on favorite to win.
How did the 22-year-old actress do it? First, she had to beat a slew of other competitors in a single-elimination tournament just like college basketball’s March Madness. More than two million votes were cast.
She topped such hotties as Kim Kardashian, climbing from the No. 10 seed in the television division to a final showdown against Decker, last year’s contest winner,2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cover girl and budding movie star.

The competition was formidable. Included in the contest were actresses like Ashley Greene, Zoe Saldana and Megan Fox.
In her own division she faced off against the likes of Sofia Vergara, the No. 1 seed, January Jones, Christina Hendrickson and curvy Kardashian, the No. 2 seed.
It’s not like Bowden had a huge fan base. While “30 Rock” is critically acclaimed, the comedy suffers from perennially poor ratings.
“I know that Esquire does their ‘Sexiest Woman Alive‘ every year, but I didn’t know that there was this online bracket as well. I don’t even know what Butler is,” she says.
“I was up against Kim Kardashian. And then — let’s put it this way: If you say my name and then say Megan Fox’s name, most people know who she is but, well, a small percent will know who I am.
“I think a lot of the fans of ’30 Rock’ kind of went crazy with it,” she adds.
While Bowden went up against some celebrity heavyweights, she didn’t have a lot of baggage to slow her down.
She has a fresh, sexy, girl-next-door look, but can still turn on the smolder when she wants to.
She started modeling when she was 14, and played Britney Jennings on the soap, “One Life to Live” until she landed her role on “30 Rock” in 2006.
Surprisingly, they shot the 30 Rock pilot without her.
“They had another girl. I had auditioned for it, but I had just turned sixteen. And now they were recasting and I was seventeen going on eighteen. They called me back in; the next day I read with Tina, and the next day I got it,” she says.
“I found out I was playing Cerie on Friday, and started on Monday. I was so scared that I got kind of lost getting there.
“So I walk in the room late, out of breath, and everyone’s just sitting down at the table staring at me. Then Tracy Morgan gets up and says, ‘Don’t just stand there lookin’ beautiful — sit down right next to me!'”
In all more than two-million visitors voted in the tournament. Bowden received a real trophy for the honor, with a presentation of sorts. Check out the video below and Katrina’s photos.
