Paul Rudd is a little slow on the uptake in his new film “Our Idiot Brother.” Or maybe he’s just too damn trusting. Either way his slacker character teaches a few life lessons to his uptight sisters played by Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel and Emily Mortimer.
A new trailer for the film, set for release by the Weinstein Co. on Aug. 26, sets up the central premise for the movie; can someone be too honest and trusting for his own good and for those around him?
Rashida Jones, Hugh Dancy, Kathryn Hahn, Shirley Knight, Janet Montgomery and Steve Coogan round out the cast of this Jesse Peretz-directed film.
Ned (Rudd), is an organic farmer whose willingness to rely on the honesty of others creates trouble for himself and others.
After his girlfriend dumps him and kicks him off the farm, Liz, Emily and Natalie each take a turn taking in Ned.
But as each of their lives begins to unravel, Ned’s family comes to realize that maybe, in believing and trusting the people around him, Ned isn’t such an idiot after all.
The trailer shows Ned getting busted for selling pot to a uniformed police officer, who easily tricks him into selling him some weed.
