Gwyneth Paltrow and Matt Damon premiered their new film “Contagion” at the Venice International Film Festival. It’s the latest in a string of disaster movies, this one, based on a deadly virus.
Damon appeared with his wife Luciana Barroso, while Paltrow walked the red carpet with co-stars Laurence Fishburne and Jennifer Ehle.
The 38-year-old actress and Damon also starred together in “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” a 1999 psychological thriller.
The Steven Soderbergh disaster follows the trail of the deadly virus. Gwyneth’s character, Beth Emhoff, is a sort of Typhoid Mary.
She is infected at an airport, allowing the mystery illness to go global.
The lethal airborne virus kills within days.
As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself.
At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart. Disaster, get it? Check out the movie trailer below.
