Brad Pitt’s new movie “World War Z” is taking over parts of Glasgow in Scotland for street scenes of stampeding people desperate to escape a zombie army coming to devour them.

The movie is based on the 2006 post-apocalyptic horror novel by Max Brooks titled “World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War.”

Brooks used World War Z to comment on social issues like government ineptitude and American isolationism, while also examining such themes as survivalism.

The film is directed by Marc Forster and stars Pitt. J. Michael Straczynski and Matthew Michael Carnahan wrote the script.

Whether the movie gets just as preachy or relies more on simple action-adventure, remains to be seen. But knowing Pitt, the political ramifications will remain.

The actor plays Gerry Lane, a UN employee who scours the world in a race against time to stop a worldwide zombie epidemic.

Fans captured filming on the set yesterday as crowd scenes were filmed. The movie will actually be set in Philadelphia.
