Katherine Heigl shows she can carry a comedy crime film with the best of them, judging by a new trailer for her upcoming movie, “One for the Money.” Get used to her character, she could be playing her for years.
The movie is based on a series of New York Times best-selling novels by Janet Evanovich. Her heroine, Stephanie Plum (Heigl), is a tough-talking Jersey girl, who takes a job at her cousin’s sleazy bail bond company.
The Lionsgate release also features Jason O’Mara as her love interest Joe Morelli. Daniel Sunjata plays her other love interest Ranger.
Screen legend Debbie Reynolds plays Plum’s offbeat Grandma Mazur, with hilarious effect.
Julie Anne Robinson directs the film the romantic crime comedy, while Stacy Sherman, Karen Ray and Liz Brixius get credit for the screenplay.
The 2:30 trailer opens with the “Grey’s Anatomy” actress chewing gum and telling her family that she not only lost her job at Macy’s in Newark selling lingerie, but her car is also about to be repossessed.
Get ready to be shocked by Heigl’s dark brunette hair color.
The next thing you know she’s wielding a gun and tracking down low-lifes.
“Shooting a gun, how hot is that?” she says.
