It also stars Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Chris O’Dowd, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper and Melissa McCarthy. Mad Men’s Jon Hamm makes a cameo as Annie’s loutish boyfriend.
The scene goes for 10 minutes, and Wiig’s character Annie fights a losing battle. She just has too much baggage in her life.
She’s in her 30s, her boyfriend has left her, her beloved business, a bakery, is bankrupt, she’s broke and forced to take a job as a clerk in a jewelry store.
Her life-long friend Lillian is getting married to a rich banker and as maid of honor Annie must compete against one of her BFF’s new rich girlfriend for Lillian’s affections and control of the wedding planning.
Mia Rose Frampton, 15, daughter of rock legend Peter Frampton, plays the young, obviously too-rich-for-her-own good girl to perfection.
Frampton’s character is a personification of Annie’s wedding nemisis in younger form. She belittles everything about Annie, from her hair, breasts, teeth and nose to her dried up eggs.
In desperation, Annie insists, her eggs are “wet.”
Annie does her best, but just can’t seem to get the edge on her little nemesis until she calls her a cunt. Her manager overhears and she’s brutally fired.
Hard to believe the scene was cut, but “Bridesmaids,” is loaded with laughs.
The Paul Feig-directed film received a 90 percent positive rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and was a hit at the box office.
