Zooey Deschanel has laid bare her financial soul in an effort to end her marriage to husband of two years Ben Gibbard. So what’s the bottom line?
She’s worth just over $3 million and is pulling down a cool $95,000 a month in income, according to newly filed court papers.
The 31-year-old actress is prudent about her money. About half, or $1.6 million is invested in stocks and bonds. But her expenses are also high.
She spends a whopping $22,500 a month to cover her bills. They include clothes, mortgage, health care insurance, vacations and other sundry items. She also gives about $1,500 a month to charities, according to court papers.
Deschanel appears to have moved on after announcing the unexpected split in October. She filed for divorce in December. The court papers cite “irreconcilable differences,” although the split is said to be on friendly terms.
Over the holidays, the actress posted a YouTube video of her singing a duet with actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Their obvious affection for each other touched off rumors they may be dating, But she noted that the two are just good friends. Gordon-Levitt is said to be seeing Scarlett Johansson.
Her relationship with Gibbard was one of those “love at first sight,” experiences, Gibbard said in an interview.
“I’d seen her in movies and obviously I thought she was very beautiful,” the Death Cab for Cutie frontman said.
It just so happened that his band’s manager also represented Deschanel’s band She and Him. “I was just awestruck that she was even talking to me,” he said.
Deschanal has starred in a number of supporting roles in movies and currently has her own television show, “New Girl,” a live-action sitcom.
