Tyrion, Daenerys Back in Game of Thrones Season 2 Trailer (watch!)

Jack Gleeson who plays the evil Joffrey Baratheon, with Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen and Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister are back vying for Seven Kingdoms of Westeros in a new trailer teasing HBO’s second season of “Game of Thrones.”

The series picks up where the season one left off, with rival dynasties trying to control of the seven kingdoms. Political intrigue and assassination are the order of the day to gain control of the Iron Throne without upsetting the delicate balance of power.

The trailer, narrated by Conleth Hill as Varys opens with a sinister voice over. “Three great men, a king, a priest, and a rich man. Between them stands a common sale sword. Each great man bids the sale sword to kill the other two. Who lives, who dies?”

Judging from the clip, it looks like Tyrion will kick off the action as he makes a play for the throne. Varys advises, or is that warns, that “a very small man can cast a very large shadow.”

In the Seven Kingdoms “summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime,” metaphorically speaking of course. But it seems as though winter has definitely descended on the region from the ice-covered north to the eastern continent across the narrow sea.

Show co-creator David Benioff told MTV that season two will include “a lot of bloodshed and more romance “There are some great love stories starting up… It looks absolutely gorgeous. And the dragons are getting bigger!”

The show, based on the hugely popular George RR Martin fantasy novels “A Song of Ice and Fire,” was an instant hit when HBO introduced it. The new season will introduce a slew of new characters including Natalie Dormer as Lady Margaery Tyrell and Stephen Dillane as Stannis Baratheon.

The series returns on April 1; The complete season will be released on DVD as a box set on 5 March, if you need to catch up before season 2. Click the link above to pre-order it at amazon.com.
