He’s fronting a new anti-corruption campaign on behalf of none other than the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Douglas’ odd public service announcement ends with a plea to report financial crimes to the FBI.
The U.S. Justice Department, which oversees the FBI, is trying to crackdown on insider trading cases. Greed may be good for Gekko, but it’s at the root of most corporate evil, according to the service spot.
“In the movie ‘Wall Street’ I play Gordon Gekko, a greedy corporate executive who cheated to profit while innocent investors lost their savings. The movie was fiction, but the problem IS real,” he says in the spot.
“Our economy is increasingly dependent on the success and the integrity of the financial markets,” Douglas says in the FBI produced video. “If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.
