Rapace stars with Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Charlize Theron. They make up the crew of the spaceship Prometheus in the year 2085.
The crew explore the planet of an advanced alien civilization while searching for the origins of humanity. But it’s a truly alien world occupied by creatures that were featured in the 1979 movie “Alien.”
The trailer pulls double duty. It not only touts the 3D version, but also acts as a teaser for a planned 2:33 minute trailer that’s expected to debut
today (Mar. 17) at WonderCon. Like previous trailers, the new clip is a visual feast of special effects sprinkled with moments of sheer terror.
Rapace, who was immortalized in the Swedish version of “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” gets most of the screen time and looks ravishingly hot as she battles unseen creatures that scare the bejezus out of her.
The clips seem carefully designed to tantalize without giving away key plot elements. What is known is that the film is supposed to be a prequel to “Alien,” but only in that it borrows the theme and space monsters.
The film is also significant because it marks Scott’s return to the genre. He followed up “Alien” with the 1982 film “Blade Runner” which cemented him as a leading director. But he veered from there into more terrestrial fare. Check out the trailer below.
