Charlize Theron, who plays cold, calculating mission leader Meredith Vickers in upcoming film “Prometheus,” is featured in a new series of stills from studio Brandywine Productions. Space will be hot in more ways than one with her ball-busting character.
The movie marks Director Ridley Scott’s return to science fiction with a scrip written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof.
The film’s stars, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba are all featured in the new photos, which show a dark an foreboding world in deep space. Rafe Spall, Sean Harris and Scott himself are also featured.

The crew is on a journey to discover the origins of the human race. The movie is a based on Scott’s sci-fi classic “Alien,” although it isn’t being billed as a prequel or sequel.
Theron definitely adds some heat to the movie. Her character is omnipresent. “She’s a lurker. She’s always somewhere in the back, being very suspicious,” Theron told Empire magazine.
“She’s the red tape that everyone has to go through, but I liked the idea of playing someone who came across as cold and untouchable, and then slowly reveals she’s a human being – one that’s flawed and heartbreaking,” she adds.
In the first plot reveals, a map is found in a cave by two children. It contains information pointing to an advanced civilization that may have been a precursor to humans on earth. “Not a map, an invitation,” says Rapace’s character Elizabeth Shaw, an archaeologist and scientist.
“From who?” asks one of the astronauts.
The crew discover the planet of an advanced alien civilization while searching for the origins of humanity. But it’s a truly alien world occupied by creatures that were featured in the 1979 movie “Alien.
“Prometheus” will hit theaters on June 8. In the meantime, check out the new photos.
