Rihanna and foxy bikini model Brooklyn Decker will have their hands full when aliens attack in their new film “Battleship.” A new clip gives a good look at the aliens’ menacing weapons.

The movie, based on the popular Hasbro board game, puts the U.S. Navy in harm’s way from aliens who have taken up residence in the ocean.

The CGI sequences seem to be the real stars of this movie, and the clip features an attack on a Navy base by robot guided grinders. They are capable of chewing up everything in their path and have long whipsaw like tails.

The new clip, the third released by Universal Pictures, went viral today (Apr. 7)

The film, produced by toymaker Hasbro, is following the same formula that made the “Transformers” movies popular. (Yes, Hasbro also makes transformers toys.)

There’s lots of action and lots of big special effects, with a sprinkling of sex and romance to maybe make it a date-night movie.

Peter Berg is directing, and the film also includes a solid cast with Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård and Liam Neeson.

Unlike most other sci-fi movies, the aliens’ point of view will be included in the film. The idea is to give viewers the same perspective on the enemy as they would have in a game of Battleship.

The aliens land on earth to develop a power supply deep in the ocean. But a fleet of warships out of Pearl Harbor stumbles on them and all hell breaks loose.

For the record, Rihanna plays Petty Officer (GM2) Cora Raikes, who serves as a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones. Decker plays Sam Shane, a physical therapist and love interest of Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer played by Kitsch.

The film, which cost a reported $200 million to make, opens May 18 in the United States and Canada. Check out the trailer below.
