Anne Hathaway says she had to physically transform to play Catwoman in the new Batman film “The Dark Knight Rises.” But the hard work appears to have paid off judging by new photos from the movie.

She appears in her skin-tight Catwoman suit and looks oh so feline.

Hathaway’s cat suit is unlike any of the others that preceded her in earlier Batman movies, which saw Halle Berry (2004) and Michelle Pfeiffer (1992) play the role.

Berry showed far more skin, while Pfeiffer’s had a latex look; her costume was shiny black. Hathaway’s outfit, in contrast, has the same look as Batman’s suit.

She wears thigh-high boots with high heels and gloves that reach beyond her elbows and a body suit of black material.

Unlike Berry and Pfeiffer who wear hood-like cowls, Hathaway wears an eye mask with feline ears attached.

In the upcoming Christopher Nolan-directed sequel, she’ll do most of her own stunts. She told Entertainment Weekly she had to work out religiously to get in shape for the part. “I had to physically transform,” she says.

“Chris sat me down at the beginning and said, ‘Joseph Gordon-Levitt did all of his own fighting in ‘Inception.’ That one zero-gravity fight? He trained for two months.’

“I basically left his office and went to the gym and just came out about five minutes ago,” she quipped.
