Robert Pattinson boils down the meaning of life as millionaire bad boy Eric Parker in a new trailer for “Cosmopolis.” It’s all about sex, money and violence as the New York financier tries to get through a very rough day.

The David Cronenberg film will compete for the Palme d’Or at the 65th Cannes Film Festival along with Wes Anderson’s film “Moonrise Kingdom,” Andrew Dominik’s “Killing Them Softly,” Michael Haneke’s “Amour,” and Walter Salles’ “On the Road” with Kristen Stewart.

The first trailer for “Cosmopolis” proved to be a shocking joyride of sex, depravity and carnage that should give the “Twilight” star no fear about shedding his goodie two-shoes vampire persona as Edward Cullen.

And, if you thought Rob was a rogue in his upcoming sex romp, “Bel Ami,” then wait until you check out the David Cronenberg film. It’s dark, twisted and erotic,

Rob plays a billionaire New York stock trader, who sets out in his limousine to get a morning haircut. Although the movie takes place over the course of a day, he takes a bizarre journey through what looks like hell.

Based on a novel by Don DeLillo (who co-wrote the screenplay), the drama is tense and shadowy. “I smell sex all over you,” says Elise Shifrin, the wife of Rob’s character, played by Sarah Gadon.

Both Rob and Kristen are slated to attend the film festival, May 16 to May 27. Brad Pitt will be there as well to support Dominik’s “Killing Them Softly,” in which he stars, along with a host of other stars.

Claude Miller’s “Therese D,” which stars Audrey Tautou, closes out this year’s fest.
