Reed, 24, is shooting the film with Liam Hemsworth, Emma Roberts, Dwayne Johnson and Shenae Grimes.
The movie is based on actual events surrounding the 1982 robbery of $11 million from the Sentry Armored Car Courier Co. in the Bronx. It’s unusual to see the film being shot in New York. To cut costs, most film production takes place in Canada or overseas even when a picture is set in the United States.
But the stars are clearly relishing shooting in the city. Reed posted a photo Saturday (July 7) of the sun setting over the historic Brooklyn Bridge. “Beautiful night filming #empirestate. I don’t want it to end. Love working with these people. Great cast, great crew, awesome director,” she Tweeted.
Grimes also uploaded a photo montage of her and Reed making faces as they sat in a taxi. “Last day on #empirestate… Gonna miss this lady @nikkireed_I_am!! You too @RobertsEmma! Xx,” she Tweeted.
During one scene filmed in Brooklyn, Reed was throwing up after having a bit too much to drink. She wore a slinky mini-skirt sprawled on a Brooklyn stoop with a puddle of fake vomit at her feet.
She and Grimes looked in the scene as if they had been partying all night.
Hemsworth, who is engaged to Miley Cyrus, plays Eddie Argitakos who plans the robbery with a childhood friend, played by Roberts. Johnson plays an NYPD officer who is trying to break the case.
Chris Diamantopoulos and Kristen Stewart’s former boyfriend Michael Angarano also star in the movie. The film will be distributed by Lionsgate and is slated for a 2013 release.
