Twins Abigail, Brittany Hensel Tackle World on New Reality Show (watch!)

Abigail and Brittany Hensel, who have lived remarkable lives as conjoined twins largely out of the public eye, are finally going to invite the world to see how they manage day-to-day tasks in a new reality televison show. Move over Kim Kardashian.

The girls, now 22, have provided brief glimpses of their lives on shows like CBS’s “60 Minutes,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and Life Magazine in the 1990s. They were also featured in a TLC documentary when they were 16-years-old.

But the new TLC show, “Abby and Brittany,” which premiered yesterday (Aug. 28) focus on their lives as young adults. It starts with their graduation from Bethel University in Minnesota and follows them as they look for a job. The show also documents their travel through Europe with friends.

The twins share one lower body and have separate upper torsos. That means they have two hearts, two sets of lungs, three kidneys, two throats, two stomachs and two gall bladders. But they have one intestinal tract and one set of reproductive organs.

Each girl controls one side of their body, yet their arms and legs function normally. The twins can play the piano, drive and easily handle other everyday tasks.

Because of the way the twins were joined it would have been exceedingly difficult to separate them. Only one percent of conjoined twins survive beyond infancy. The show will air on Tuesdays at 10 pm. Check out the preview below and the full episode.
