Kristen Stewart has no regrets about being naked in upcoming movie “On the Road.” Anything less, she says, would violate the spirit of Jack Kerouac’s book, which became a classic exposition on the ’50s-era Beat Generation.

Stewart plays MaryLou, one of the fictionalized characters Kerouac created to represent the real people in his life when he went on the road to gather material for the seminal book.

Kerouac chronicled a free-spirited drug and alcohol fueled journey across the United States with his pal, Neal Cassady, who becomes the model for Dean Moriarty in the book. Garrett Hedlund plays him in the movie. MaryLou is Moriarty’s free-loving 15-year-old girlfriend and later wife.

The film also stars Amy Adams, Viggo Mortensen, Kirsten Dunst, Steve Buscemi, Terrence Howard and Elisabeth Moss.

The part required Stewart to do nude scenes with Hedlund and Sam Riley, who plays Sal Paradise, the fictional character who represents Kerouac. Stewart embraced the scenes and went full frontal.

“It didn’t bother me,” she told MTV during the Toronto International Film Festival.

“You can do no wrong with [director Walter Salles]. He puts so much inside of you. In the four-week rehearsal process, it was okay to ask any question, to bring up any story, to really over-analyze everything and intellectualize everything,” she said.

“Once we got on set, it was so about just breathing and letting it happen. He put so much trust in us, so it was like, ‘Okay, so I have to take my clothes off?” It’s so not a big [deal].'”

“I don’t want this to be misconstrued in anyway, but you do want to get as close to an experience as you can,” said Stewart. “Anything that feels guarded, in this particular movie especially, would just be so against the spirit of it.”

The film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in May and drew mixed reviews and pans from some major critics. The common theme is the Director Salles underplays the wildness of the book as do the characters, all of whom are too reverential to the material.
