Nicole Kidman has never had any problem taking risks with her career in film roles that defy her stereotype. In a new trailer for “Stoker,” the new thriller from director Park Chan-wook, she takes horror to a whole new level.

The Austrailan actress stars with Mia Wasikowska and Matthew Goode in a creepy tale about suburbia gone wrong.

“I’ve often wondered why it is we have children. The conclusion I’ve come to is we want someone to get it right this time. But not me. Personally, I can’t wait to watch life tear you apart,” she says in a breathy voice over to open the clip.

Kidman plays suburban well-to-do society mom Evie and Wasikowska is her daughter India. When Evie’s husband dies suddenly, mysterious Uncle Charlie, played by Goode moves in. India is not happy.

“I’m curious about what happened to my father,” she asks Charlie. India wastes no time catching her mother in Uncle Charlie’s arms, thickening the plot.

Charlie turns out to be quite the homicidal maniac, while Evie is no slouch in the evil department. India is left to unravel the mystery as Charlie and Evie become the talk of the town.
