Robert Pattinson’s bizarre, stomach-turning movie “Cosmopolis,” the kind of film he hopes to doing more of, is hitting the sales racks on New Year’s Day, in both DVD and Blu-ray, with lots of special features that provide new insights into the surreal film.

Rob starred in the David Cronenberg-film as Eric Packer, a master of high finance, who sets off on a simple journey to get a haircut in Manhattan and ends up on a wild, hypnotic odyssey.

Oscar winner Juliette Binoche, Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti, Samantha Morton and Jay Baruchel co-star in the film. “Cosmpolis” explores “the new millennium’s obsessions with power, money, control, information, technology, violence, sex, mortality, revolution, destruction and ultimately, redemption,” according to studio Entertainment One.

And all in one, single cataclysmic day!

The DVD and Blu-ray sets will be released on New Year’s Day. As usual you can expect it to be packed with extras including a featurette, titled “Citizens of Cosmopolis,” commentary from Cronenberg and interviews with the cast and crew, including Rob.

Packer’s trip across Manhattan in a stretch limo wired with the latest communications technology runs head one into explosive city riots and a slew of intimate encounters. His perfectly ordered life teeters on the brink as a financial crisis threatens to ruin him.

In a recent interview Pattinson said that “Cosmopolis” is the kind of movie that whets his appetite to be an actor.

“I didn’t always want to be an actor, so I don’t want to act in anything; I want to be in the movies that I would buy before I started acting,” he says. “Generally, there’s about 30 directors who I want to work with, and I want to do things which are dangerous and cutting edge.”
