BullockMcCarthy-TheHeatSandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy may be the Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor of their generation. Okay, they’re both women and both white, but they’re hilarious in a new red band trailer for their upcoming movie “The Heat.”

McCarthy plays a street-smart, tough talking Boston detective and Bullock is an uptight, by-the-book federal prosecutor.

The sight gags and McCarthy’s one-liners come almost nonstop. Bullock, easily one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood, shows off her comedic skills as well. It’s a raunchy affair; the trailer has been red banded.

But what a hoot from Director Paul Feig, who is best known for his hilarious comedy “Bridesmaids” and “Freaks and Geeks.”

Things really heat up when McCarthy and Bullock team up to take down a Russian mobster.

“I think this individual actually might be mentally ill,” says Bullock at one point in the trailer after experiencing McCarthy’s hijinks.

But according her captain, she’s the toughest cop he has, says her boss. “She grew up on the streets and knows them better than anyone.”

Once they’re assigned to work the Russian mob case together, McCarthy must teach Bullock how to become a street-smart cop. The process is hilarious. Check out the nightclub bathroom scene.

Wilder and Pryor were also an unlikely pairing when the first appeared in 1975’s hilarious “Silver Streak.” They also played opposite one another in 1980s “Stir Crazy” and 1989’s “See No Evil, Hear No Evil.” Hopefully, McCarthy and Bullock will make a habit of this.

“The Heat” is expected in theaters April 5. Check out red-band trailer below and click here to follow TheImproper on Twitter for all of the latest movie updates.
