Selena Gomez gets slap happy with Vanessa Hudgens in promo shot for Spring Breakers.

Selena Gomez and cast mates Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine add their interpretation of the upcoming film “Spring Breakers,” in a new video featurette. Selena and company say the film is about more than having a good time.

The video opens with James Franco as Alien, a part-time rapper and drug dealer, explaining his philosophy of life.

“Some kids they want to grow up to be president. Some kids want to be a doctor… I just wanted to be bad,” he says.

As simple as that sounds, Selena says there’s more to the film than that. “There’s the movie that we’re making and there’s the movie that the media thinks we’re making,” she says. It’s all about doing something different.

Benson likens the movie to a fantasy. The video cuts to a scene where the girls rob a restaurant to get money to go on a Spring Break vacation to Florida.

“If you’re not growing, you’re dying, so you’ve got to push yourself,” says Hudgens, who adds that theatergoers will she her more as a “real girl” than a Disney character.

The movie takes a really bizarre turn when the girls hook up with Alien and he invites them to play “Beyonce.” He takes them back to his pad, a twisted reflection of his own characters. The house is filled with guns, with a video in his bedroom of gangster movie “Scarface” on repeat , he says twice for emphasis. “It’s constant, y’all.”

But Hudgens may say it best: “It’s fun to witness people really go wild.”
