Transformers star Megan Fox just can’t escape comparisons with actress Angelina Jolie, and now Jolie’s father Jon Voight is getting in on the act. He says there is no comparison. Fox just isn’t as talented, he says. And what does Megan say?
Fox has previously laughed off comparisons with Angelina, insisting she is much more light-hearted and fun.
“People compare me to Angelina Jolie, and she’s so serious and stoic. I’m the opposite,” she explained. “I’m not a tigress like Angelina. Of course, people want me to be. But I want to be the contradiction of that.”
For years, Voight was estranged from his actress-daughter, but they recently repaired some of the damage, which apparently has motivated the “Midnight Cowboy” star to speak out.
Asked if he thinks Angelina is similar to Megan, he said: “I don’t think she is, no. She’s one of our finest actresses. She’s gotten to that point in her career. Megan is just starting out, but she has a lot of potential.”
Jon has previously urged Megan, 23, who is often compared to Angelina, 36, because of their similar looks and love of tattoos. Both seem to have a penchant for action/adventure films.
Voight hopes Megan will follow in Angelina’s footsteps and devote time to charity.
After her wild-child years, in which she bedded her mother’s boyfriend as a 16-year-old, Jolie has become a mother herself to six children and has devoted more and more time to humanitarian efforts through the United Nations, an organization her father, an arch-conservative, probably disdains.
Angelina, a goodwill ambassador, advocates on behalf of children in war-torn Third World countries, and has made numerous trips to Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries.
“Maybe Megan will start doing the things that Angelina is so well known for. Angie is known for helping with kids and for her concern for others. I think that would be wonderful for all of the kids if Megan were to do the same,” Voight said.
