Oscar Isaac Stellar in ‘A Most Violent Year;’ Is He Oscar Worthy? (video)

Oscar Isaac, who stars in the little-publicized indie film “A Most Violent Year,” could be a surprise Oscar contender and the picture could be a sleeper hit after he walked away with an acting award yesterday (Dec. 3) from The National Board of Review. Although one of the less publicized Tinseltown organizations, the board is made up of movie industry experts and film professionals, who carry some weight in Hollywood. The crime drama, written and directed by J. C. Chandor, has a strong cast that also includes Jessica Chastain, Alessandro Nivola, David Oyelowo, Albert Brooks and Catalina Sandino Moreno....

Emma Stone Sensual in Plunging Dress at Venice Film Fest (pics!)

Emma Stone shortened her hair and let loose in a revealing gown on the red carpet at the opening ceremony and premiere of her new film “Birdman” during the 71st Venice Film Festival. At 25, Emma has matured into a full-blown Hollywood siren with an impressive and growing film resume. “Birdman,” her 18th motion picture, is a comedy-drama that also stars Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Zach Galifianakis, Naomi Watts, Amy Ryan, Merritt Wever and Benjamin Kanes....

Ben Affleck to Play Batman? Are You Kidding? Get Serious…

Ben Affleck as Batman in the upcoming sequel to “Man of Steel” has to be one of the monumental cases of miscasting since George Clooney was handed the role in the 1997 movie “Batman & Robin.” Nothing against Ben; he’s a fine actor and obviously a solid director as well. Check last year’s “Argo.” But he just lacks the gravitas to play the caped crusader in the wake of Christian Bale’s stunning performance in the Christopher Nolan “Batman” trilogy. Then, again, Batman has never really gotten much respect on the big- or small-screen....

Robocop on the Cheap: New Costume Disappoints (photos)

Robocop has taken on a new look for the upcoming update of the 1980s film, but the new cyborg suit is disappointing ardent fans because it looks like a cheap Batman cast off. Likewise, Robocop’s police car. Although the movie is set in 2046, the car looks like a thinly disguised Dodge Charger. The film, which stars Joel Kinnaman, Jay Baruchel, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton and Michael K. Williams, has been called a reimagination of the original story, which originally appeared in 1987 and was followed by two sequels in 1990 and 1993....

George Clooney Reflects Hilariously on Batman Role (watch!)

George Clooney has had a number of heavyweight roles. Batman wasn’t one of them. The 1997 film, where he played the caped crusader opposite Chris O’Donnell as Robin, opened big, but quickly slid into ignominy. The film was a sequel to 1995′s “Batman Forever.” Clooney replaced Val Kilmer as Batman, who had replaced Michael Keaton, the star of the 1989 film “Batman” by Tim Burton. Clooney discussed the finer aspects of the role on “Inside the Actors Studio.”...
