Ed Lauter, the prolific character actor who debuted in Alfred Hitchcock’s last film and went on to appear in more than 200 films and television shows, died late last night (Oct. 16), from complications caused by lung cancer. He was 74. His big break came when he appeared in Hitchcock’s “Family Plot” in 1976, with Bruce Dern, Barbara Harris, Karen Black and William Devane....
