“Suicide Squad” is featured in a new teaser trailer and it’s pretty clear the movie has been watered down to cut the sex and violence. Studio Warner Bros and DC Entertainment are going for the short money by angling for a PG-13 rating. So much for artistic integrity. The lead characters include Will Smith as Deadshot, an expert marksman an assassin, Jared Leto as Joker, a psychopathic criminal and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, a crazed former psychiatrist. Ben Affleck as Batman in the upcoming sequel to “Man of Steel” has to be one of the monumental cases of miscasting since George Clooney was handed the role in the 1997 movie “Batman & Robin.” Nothing against Ben; he’s a fine actor and obviously a solid director as well. Check last year’s “Argo.” But he just lacks the gravitas to play the caped crusader in the wake of Christian Bale’s stunning performance in the Christopher Nolan “Batman” trilogy.
