Mad Men Debut, Commercial Breaks Aside, Shines

After watching the "Mad Men" premiere, I thought about it all night. I got up the next day, and I was still thinking about it. Here's what grabbed me the most about "One Little Kiss," the first episode in Season Five of the show's much anticipated return. I did not like the many, many commercials. By the second or third break, I was already counting the actual time the story played on screen and it was something like 10 minutes, compared with the first four seasons without commercials....

Colin Ferrell, Jessica Biel Tackle Evil in Total Recall Teaser

Colin Ferrell, Jessica Beil and Kate Bekinsale star in the remake of “Total Recall,” the 1990 film that helped put Arnold Schwarzenegger on the map. But this time out the movie will be really different, judging by a new teaser for an upcoming trailer. Of course, there’s not much to judge by. You know Hollywood marketing has gotten out of control when even trailers have trailers. The 32-second clip provides only brief snapshots of the movie....

Whitney Houston's Bodyguard DVD, Blu-Ray Goes on Sale

Whitney Houston, in death, is continuing to loom larger than life. “The Bodyguard,” her breakout 1992 film with Kevin Costner is being re-released on DVD and Blu-Ray to commemorate her life and the 20th anniversary of the film. Warner Home Video released the discs today (Mar. 27) and tomorrow (Mar. 28), the film will be shown in select theaters for one night only. In the movie, Houston flexes her four-octave vocal range to sing “Queen of the Night” and her iconic version of “I Will Always Love You.”...

'Bully' MPAA Rating Decision Kiss of Death for Film

Harvey Weinstein supposedly gets his way in Hollywood, but the Motion Picture Association of America ratings board did him no favors by copping out on rating of his documentary "Bully." The Weinstein Company's film about school boy bullying was slapped with an "R" rating, which would have prevented it from being shown in junior high and high schools. The group removed a rating all together, after the company protested....

Dustin Hoffman's Luck: New Show a Brilliant Failure

Talk about an ironic title. HBO abruptly shut down production on Dustin Hoffman's iconic new series "Luck" after a third horse died on the set. Say what you will, but the show, having just aired its fourth installment, was finally picking up steam. With an esteemed cast, including producer/star Dustin Hoffman, Dennis Farina, Michael Gambon, Nick Nolte, Jason Gedrick and Kevin Dunn, HBO no doubt was expecting another Sopranos-like show....

Selena Gomez Gets Her Party Started on Spring Breakers

Selena Gomez may not be a party girl, but she sure knows how to play one. Probably the most straight laced of stars in the movie "Spring Breakers," the former Disney star is learning the ropes fast. During filming, she's been pictured downing alcohol and dancing in public half naked. In a new scene, she even gets arrested, just like another Disney queen, Lindsay Lohan, in real life....

Kristen Stewart Rules New Snow White Trailer (watch!)

Kristen Stewart takes center stage in a new trailer of “Snow White and the Huntsman,” introduced by Chris Hemsworth, who plays the huntsman. There are even scenes of her all cleaned up and looking very princess-like. The film is a darker more realistic take on the classic Grimm fairy tale that most people know from the quaint Disney animated classic. But Stewart and co-star Charlize Theron are both charged up about the film because it includes two strong female characters....

Noomi Rapace Scintillating in New Prometheus Trailer (Watch)

Ridley Scott’s much heralded return to science fiction with “Prometheus” gets another tease, in more ways than one. Noomi Rapace features prominently in a new clip promoting the IMAX 3D version of the film. Rapace stars with Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Charlize Theron. They make up the crew of the spaceship Prometheus in the year 2085....
