The new release comes on the heels of news that Spears has wrapped up a two-year deal to perform at the Planet Hollywood hotel for a reported $15 million a year.
Britney is all about work with her latest song and her new contract, which reportedly calls for her to perform 48 shows per year, according to gossip site TMZ. That’s somewhat less than Celine Dione’s Vegas workload of 70 shows per year.
Spears sings: “You want a hot body, you want a Bugatti, you want a Maserati? You better work, bitch.”
For all her talk about the work ethic, Spears sings very little on the pounding dance tune; rather she “sing-speaks.”
She was clearly disappointed about the leak. “Woke up today and saw that a low quality version of Work Bitch had leaked,” Spears tweeted yesterday (Sept. 15).
The song was initially set to premiere today (Sept 16) at 6 pm via iHeartRadio and local stations. From there, the track was scheduled to be released Sept 17 at 12:01 a.m. EST through iTunes. But all that went by the wayside.
Ben Mor, who directed Katy Perry’s “Part of Me” video and Brit’s role in will.i.am’s “Scream and Shout” video will be helming the video for “Work Bitch.”
Spears has been keeping details on her next album close to her chest, so to speak. No info is available on the track list or release date.
