Lorde and Charli XCX look like they’re ready to own the 2018 VO5 NME Awards. They’ve each been nominated four times, with both competing for Best Track. Fans can vote for faves on the NME Web site.
Lorde, the New Zealand singer who scored a breakout with her hit single “Royals,” is up for Best International Solo Artist and Best Live Artist.
She’s also been nominated for Best Album for Melodrama and Best Track for “Green Light.”
Charli is also up for Best Track, Best Video for “Boys,” Best Mixtape for “Pop 2” and Best British Solo Artist.
Dua Lipa received three nods; Best British Solo Artist and Best Track and Best Video for “New Rules.”
Alt-J, Kasabian, Wolf Alice, The 1975, The xx and Bastille will battle it out for Best British Band.
Haim, The National, Foo Fighters, The Killers, Paramore and Migos were all nominated in the Best International Band category.
Kasabian, Stormzy, Royal Blood, LCD Soundsystem and Liam Gallagher will go head to head with Lorde for Best Live Act.
After the tragic events of the Manchester terrorist attack, Ariana Grande’s tribute concert, “One Love Manchester” is the odds on favorite to win Music Moment of the Year.
Also nominated are The Killers’ surprise Glastonbury set, Lady Gaga at the Super Bowl and Chester Bennington’s tribute concert, “Grime4Corbyn.”
The dark horse is Noel Gallagher for playing ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ at the re-opened Manchester Arena.
Grande’s determination to return to Manchester after the devastating terror attack earned her a nod in the Hero of the Year category.
Actress Rose McGowan, the first woman to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct, also received a nod.
Liam Gallagher has already been confirmed to receive the Godlike Genius award at the ceremony.
