James Blake, London Grammar Among 2014’s Best Music Makers

Some of the most sumptuous music in quite some time was produced this year from some of my favorite singers and bands like London Grammar, James Blake, Cold Play and Maroon 5. The music industry may be dying, but not the music. Be it the continuing female-Brit influence (London Grammar; Ella Henderson) to more jam-bands like My Morning Jacket and Alabama Shakes, it’s been a very good year indeed for everything but album sales....

Adam Levine Stars in Mini-Movie in New ‘Maps’ Video (watch!)

Adam Levine sees the future and it’s an acting career. His new video for Maroon 5′s single “Maps,” is a mini-drama starring Levine, with the music reduced to soundtrack. Levine, 35, debuted last year in his first film “Begin Again,” a musical comedy-drama directed by John Carney with Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo. He seems to have been bitten by the bug. ...

Ed Sheeran Leaps From Taylor Swift Opener to Major Star (watch!)

Before last night, Ed Sheeran was mostly known as Taylor Swift’s opening act, but his moving acoustic performance of The Beatles’ “In My Life,” on last night’s (Feb. 9) CBS’s tribute show, was nothing less than magical. The show included Stevie Wonder, a reunited Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, E.L.O.’s Jeff Lynne with Dave Grohl, Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh, Katy Perry, John Legend, Alicia Keys, John Mayer and Keith Urban. Pharrell Williams, Brad Paisley, Imagine Dragons and Maroon 5 also covered classic Beatles songs....

Christina Aguilera Leads ‘Voice’ Coaches on ‘I Love Rock ‘n Roll’

Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton, showed why they’re coaches on NBC’s “The Voice,” with a rousing rendition of “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” to open Season Five of the reality competition series. “The Voice” has moved ahead of the pack of reality music competitions like “The X Factor” and “American Idol.”...

Adam Levine, Maroon 5 Are Kings of Rock With New Album

Since Adam Levine and Maroon 5 burst onto the scene in 1997, they’ve been hard to ignore. With songs like this year’s “Moves Like Jagger,” “Payphone” and the current “One More Night,” they’re the kings of rock. I love Levine’s voice; face it, he’s got the perfect instrument and his role as a judge/mentor on NBC’s “The Voice” has clearly bumped him along. He may be playing the bad boy onscreen, but clearly, he knows exactly what’s he’s doing....
