Daniel Radcliffe, who spent several scenes nude in his last Broadway outing, is heading back to the Great White Way again, this time to play in a revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
Radcliffe, 20, of course, is best known for his performances in the blockbuster “Harry Potter” film series.
The revival is slated to open next spring (2011) and will mark Radcliffe’s musical debut.
Radcliffe will star as the show’s unlikely hero J. Pierrepont Finch, an ambitious young man who rises from the mailroom to the executive suite at the World-Wide Wicket Company.
His last outing was the dark drama Equus, about a boy’s physical attraction to horses.
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, debuted in 1961 and won the Pulitzer Prize for musicals.
The 50-year-old show originally starred Robert Morse. He’s still acting and appears in the cable hit “Mad Men,” about and advertising agency in the 1960s.
This is the second revival. Matthew Broderick did a turn as J. Pierrepont Finch in a 1995 return to Broadway.
Frank Loesser (Guys and Dolls, The Most Happy Fella) wrote score, which includes the standard “I Believe in You” – and which Radcliffe will sing.
Radcliffe is currently filming the last in the Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” the final film in the largest-grossing franchise in Hollywood history.
