“Gossip Girl”Leighton Meester goes from the posh Upper East Side to hard-scrabble, Depression-era California in the first preview last night (Mar. 19) of the star-packed Broadway revival of John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men.

Meester is joined in the the all-star cast by James Franco as George and Chris O’Dowd as Lenny.

“Dress rehearsal tonight – the cast and crew killed it! 1st preview tomorrow, sold out!” Franco tweeted ahead of the performance.

The Young Hollywood actress, 27, plays the flirtatious wife of the boss’s son, Curly. She teases and taunts Lenny with ultimately tragic consequences.

The play is based on Steinbeck’s 1937 novella. The work was adopted for the stage and opened on Broadway the same year.

It was named Best Play in 1938 by the New York Drama Critics’ Circle and revived two more times in 1975 and 1987 (Off-Broadway).

A movie followed in 1939, starring Lon Chaney Jr. as Lennie, and Burgess Meredith as George. It was nominated for four Oscars.

Anna D. Shapir directs the latest revival which will be hosted at the Longacre Theatre.
