Ex-National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s cooperation with Special Counsel Robert Mueller was detailed in a sentencing memo filed by the Mueller’s office tonight (Dec. 4). Read the full document below.
Details were much more limited than some news outlets had speculated, but it does contain some compelling revelations. The most significant detail is that Mueller is recommending no time in jail for Flynn because of his extensive cooperation.
“Given the defendant’s substantial assistance and other considerations set forth below, a sentence at the low end of the guideline range—including a sentence that does not impose a term of incarceration—is appropriate and warranted,” the document states.
Flynn pleaded guilty in December a year ago to one count of lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak. He met with the Mueller team 19 times over the course of the year to provide assistance with the investigation.
Flynn will be sentenced by a Washington, DC judge on Dec 18.
