Katy Perry was among the eye-catching young celebrities who turned out to support LA’s Museum of Contemporary Art.

Katy Perry and Glee’s Dianna Agron were among celebrities who attended the Museum of Contemporary Art’s 35th Anniversary Gala in Los Angeles, burnishing the troubled museum’s reputation and bottom line.

The event, sponsored by fashion brand Louis Vuitton, also honored Philippe Vergne, the museum’s new director.

Owen Wilson, singer Pharrell, television host Ryan Seacrest burlesque star Dita Von Teese and actress Jane Fonda were also spotted in the crowd that came out Saturday (Mar. 30)

Perry was leggy in a back Versace dress. She deserved points for uniqueness but left many gasping at the long flaps in front and back and the bright yellow lining.

Fortunately, Katy prevented a total fashion fail thanks to a sleeveless mock turtle-neck top that exposed her sexy broad shoulders.

Her naturally beautiful face and cute shoulder-length bob with bangs gave her a youthful look that kept eyes from lingering too long below the waist.

Glee actress Agron also teetered on the brink of fashion failure in a printed Louis Vuitton design.

The black-and-grey pinstripe, tank-top dress was sexy enough, but couldn’t survive the gaudy, mismatched printed fabric that slashed diagonally across her skirt.

Katy wore black Christian Louboutins with red accents that made their own statement. But Dianna did herself no favors wearing clunky black boots.

They both could have taken some fashion advice from Jane Fonda, who was elegant from head to toe in a black gown with a plunging vee-neck.

Ghesquiere landed at Vuitton after he was sacked as creative director at Balenciaga by its imperious boss François-Henri Pinault.

Unfortunately, Chloe’s cream-colored knit cardigan dress, part of Ghesquière’s first collection, made her look pixie-like with it’s with high-waist black belt and black collar.

With the one gold earring she chose as an embellishment, she looked like she just walked in from the Pirates of Penzance. The boots only added to the image.

Von Teese, known for eccentricity as well as daring fashion style looked statuesque in a Lavender gown that left little to the imagination up top. Still despite the copious side-boob she looked elegant and sexy.

The Museum of Contemporary Art has drawn a lot of celebrity support since it foundered last year in the face of financial difficulties and a leadership vacuum. Last night’s event reportedly raised $2.1 million, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The evening also celebrated Director Vergne’s first installation, a retrospective of artist Mike Kelly’s work that includes more than 250 pieces. It’s the largest exhibition since 1993.

Kelly, a fixture on the LA art scene, died at age 57 in January 2012.
