Joan Rivers’ lavish jewelry, fine French furniture, exclusive Bob Mackie gowns, paintings and other object reflecting her eclectic lifestyle will hit the auction block in New York City later this month, with items ranging in price from $500 to $200,000, according to Christie’s.
Rivers, a pioneering female comedian, cultural touchstone and arbiter of taste and fashion, died in Sept. 2014 from cardiac arrest suffered during a routine medical procedure. She was 81.

Since then, daughter Melissa Rivers has been liquidating her estate. Her mom’s lavish French provincial condo on Manhattan’s Upper East Side sold last year for $28 million. The buyer was purportedly Middle Eastern royalty.
The June 22 auction in New York City will feature decorative arts, paintings, fine French furniture and Fabergé, according to the auction house.
“The sale at Christie’s this June offers a ‘through the keyhole’ experience for fans across the globe to see and buy items from my mother’s amazing Manhattan penthouse,” said Melissa in a statement. “There is something to suit every taste and budget.”

Unique costumes made by Bob Mackie, other couture and personal jewelry by Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Harry Winston, will be among the 200 lots for sale.
Items, encompassing 80 lots, will also be sold in an online auction starting June 16 and running through June 23.
Featured items include an Edouard Vuillard painting, “Dans L’Atelier,” circa 1915. It’s estimated sale prices ranges between $120,000 and $180,000. A jeweled nephrite study of a Lily of the Valley leaf by Fabergé has been priced at $200,000 to $300,000.

A silver Tiffany water bowl engraved “for Spike,” her dog, is also up for auction with an estimate $500 to $800 price tag.
“The auction celebrates her elegance and collecting style–from the fun Tiffany silver water bowl for her beloved dog Spike, a series of spectacular Bob Mackie gowns from her Vegas headliner years to important paintings, furniture, jewelry and exquisite Fabergé,” Melissa added.
“My mother’s legacy as a much loved comedienne and philanthropist will be commemorated in this collaboration with Christie’s and her generosity to charitable causes is something I will continue in her honor.”
Part of the proceeds of the sale will go towards supporting God’s Love We Deliver and Guide Dogs For The Blind, Melissa said.
In another Christie’s sale of note: Pablo Picasso paintings and works by Amedeo Modigliani, Claude Monet, Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee will be auctioned in London also on June 22.
Picasso’s “Nature morte” and “Nature morte aux volets verts”, from Dec. 29, 1946, are each are estimated at $2.89 million to $4.33 million). The paintings are unique because Picasso painted both on the same day.
“It gives such an amazing insight into how Picasso was working,” Jay Vincze, head of the Impressionist and Modern Art department at Christie’s London, told Reuters. “Rarely do we see a pair of paintings painted on the same day.”
