Klezmer clarinet virtuoso David Krakauer joins with trombonist Fred Wesley (James Brown, Bootsy Collins and Parliament Funkadelic), and beat architect “Socalled” in the internationally acclaimed Abraham Inc. for an all-out klezmer-funk dance party.
The group is getting together for their first New York City show, Wed., Feb. 2, at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) at Le Poisson Rouge, 158 Bleecker Street (between Thompson & Sullivan).
The trio, backed by a three-piece horn section led by Wesley and members of Krakauer’s Klezmer Madness! band, played a sold out concert at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall in 2006, marking the first step in this collaborative venture.
The New York Times called their music “a vibrant and irresistible blend of traditional Jewish folk tunes with elements of jazz, rock, funk and hip-hop.”

Jazz Times had this to say about their 2008 Apollo Theater show: “This endlessly surprising yet highly successful hybrid of klezmer, funk and hip-hop had the enthusiastic crowd—young and old, Jews and gentiles, whites and blacks—dancing ecstatically in the aisles like it was a Jewish wedding.”
“Abraham Inc is about bringing people together, cultures together, music together — and it’s just an amazingly great time,” says Krakauer.
The group’s new album, Tweet Tweet is out now on iTunes and Amazon.com. It debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Jazz Album Chart.
