Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron, a high-ranking X-wing fighter pilot and commander of the Resistance, sees the emotions behind the final film in the Star Wars franchise.

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which opens Dec. 20, is the third installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. It follows “The Force Awakens” (2015), and “The Last Jedi” (2017)

It’s also the final chapter in the nine-part “Skywalker saga,” which began with the film “Star Wars” in 1977. That makes it older than, likely, most theatergoers.

No wonder it’s so emotional.

Isaac calls the film “epic” and “overwhelming.”

“I’m excited. Excited to unleash this thing. I think it’s an epic, overwhelming, emotional conclusion to the Skywalker saga,” he said at the London premiere of the film.

Naomi Ackie, who stars as Jannah, an ally of the Resistance, says those working on the film were a “tight knit family.”

The 27-year-old actress makes her debut in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise. She expected the atmosphere on set to be “cold” because of the scale of the production but was surprised to find her co-stars were warm and welcoming.

“I think the expectation was maybe that it would be a bit bigger, maybe colder, because the film was so huge,” she said at the premiere.

“But I actually found that it was such a tight knit family, and that’s the heart of what these films are about. And being able to share that with everyone is … it’s way more intimate than you would think.”

Kelly Marie Tran says she was overwhelmed by the love she gets from “Star Wars” fans.

The 30-year-old actress reprises her role as Rose Tico. She joined the franchise in 2017’s “The Last Jedi.”

“It was wild and amazing, truly, she said about fans chanting her name at this year’s “Star Wars Celebration.”

“I was obviously not expecting that,” she told Refinery29.

“It was like, ‘Oh, I’m not crying’, but obviously, I was crying and totally trying to hide it. And then the host, Steven Colbert, asked me a question and I was like, ‘Ahhh! I think I said something so strange.’ I remember being like, I can’t process anything.”

“I think that’s how it’s been for me, this time around with all those things coming out.”

Tran, who was abuse online after she joined the “Star Wars” universe, hit back in an op-ed piece for The New York Times.

“Rose has risen through the ranks of the resistance, and you see that not only in her costume but in her, the way she speaks, and the way she carries herself.”

“I think the fact that anyone wants to draw this character at all is pretty incredible to me,” she said.

Oscar, 40, still finds it hard to believe he’s a part of the ‘Star Wars’ universe, which has been over four decades in the making.

“It’s massive. It’s hard to believe that I’m a part of the 42 year story, and to have been able to contribute, especially to the closing of that thing … it’s humbling,” he said.

Oscar first appeared as Poe 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and returned for 2017’s “The Last Jedi.” He said he wasn’t sure if his character would “make it past the first film” when he first landed the role.

Naomi Ackie says working on ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ was a “tight knit family”.

She calls her character, Jannah, is “super courageous” and “cool.”

“I can say that she’s a warrior. She’s super courageous, super cool may I add. And I’m so excited for people to see what she can do.”

Asked how he secured his role, Isaac said: “Well, that was an interesting process with [director] J.J. [Abrams] kind of bringing me over to Paris – that’s where they were at the time – and just talking to me about the character.

“And then that evolved, and he wasn’t sure if he was going to make it past the first film, and then that shifted and so … yeah. The whole journey has been a wild, unpredictable ride.”

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has promised that the “Star Wars” franchise won’t abandon the characters created in the most recent trilogy.

“I think it gives us a more open-ended view of storytelling and doesn’t lock us into this three-act structure. We’re not going to have some finite number and fit it into a box. We’re really going to let the story dictate that,” she said.

“Obviously, that’s what’s we’ve been spending so much time talking about, and it’s a really important transition for ‘Star Wars,” she told The Los Angeles Times.

“What we’ve been focused on these last five or six years is finishing that family saga around the Skywalkers. Now is the time to start thinking about how to segue into something new and different.”

Meanwhile, Daisy Ridley recently revealed she was overcome with emotion when she filmed her final ‘Star Wars’ scenes.

The actress, who plays Rey, admitted she was reduced to tears on the final day of filming, knowing her “Star Wars” experience is coming to an end.

“The last day of filming felt like a blur. I had just filmed my final shot and the mic was being passed around and everybody said something.

“I can’t even remember what I said. Next thing I am in a car being driven away with tears rolling down my face. It just hit me that it’s all over, and I broke down with emotion.

“Is ‘Star Wars’ over for Rey? It is, and it feels over. I don’t think anybody could give me a better story than I have had with these three films.”
