Bob Woodruff and wife Lee Woodruff hosted the Hamptons Stands for Heroes event to celebrate the work of The Bob Woodruff Foundation, which helps war veterans make a smooth transition when they return home.

The event was held Friday (Aug. 28) at the home of Joan and George Hornig, Chief Operating Officer of Pine Bridge Investments and a co-founder of Wasserstein Perella & Company.

The event was an all-local affair.

Rafanelli Events, which has offices in Boston, New York City and Palm Beach, designed the event. Manhattan Moonshine, which is known for its premium, un-aged whiskey, provided the cocktails and Montauk Brewery kept the locally brewed beer flowing.

Manhattan-based Acquolina Catering, which is known for traditional Italian cooking and the cuisines of Europe, Asia, South America and the United States, provided canapés served on the grounds of the estate.

The cocktail reception featured a special performance by US Marine Combat Veteran JW Cortes and a car display courtesy of Six Sigma Auto Group.

Following the cocktail reception, guests enjoyed a special VIP dinner in the Hornig’s barn, which featured a special performance by New York City native Rachel Brown, a Harvard graduate who taught herself to play guitar and has devoted her life to music.

She’s the daughter of Ethiopian-born, American fashion designer Amsale Aberra and Neil Brown.

Notable attendees included James Lipton, Jane Hanson, Chris Cuomo, Cristina Cuomo, Gerry and Liz Byrne, Anna Throne-Holst, Adam Sikora, Robbie Browne, Yolanda Garretti, William Kehler and Mack Woodruff.

Beach Magazine in Water Mill, NY, was the media partner.

All of the night’s proceeds will go to the Bob Woodruff Foundation, founded by the ABC News correspondent and wife Lee, after Bob was hit by a roadside bomb and suffered a serious brain injury while covering the war in Iraq in January 2006.

Then Co-Anchor of ABC’s “World News Tonight,” Bob was able to fully recover within 13 months. Their experience inspired them to help make sure our nation’s heroes have access to the resources they deserve, for as long as they need them.

To date, the foundation has invested $28 million on behalf of more than two million veterans according to its Web site.
