Miley Cyrus has a thing for expensive guitars. She kept instruments worth more than $10,000 in a San Fernando Valley storage unit for safe keeping. But somehow thieves found out about and plundered her stash.
It is unclear how thieves gained access to the unit, however, the heist reportedly went unreported, because Cyrus thought family members had borrowed the instruments. The actual crime occurred at some point in October, according to gossip site TMZ.

Cyrus finally discovered the guitars had been stolen after she and fiancé Liam Hemsworth were forced to evacuate their home after the devastating Woolsey Fire tore through the Malibu and Calabasas area last month.
The couple’s Malibu home was destroyed, and Cyrus said she is still coming to terms with what happened.
“Honestly, I’m in a really good kind of healing place right now. I’ve definitely learned a lot,” she said. The fire, she added, invoked a “deep character challenge” and made her realize what her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, meant when he told her that “life is a series of adjustments.”

She explained:
“My dad has always told me, ‘Life is a series of adjustments.’ And sometimes we never understand what our parents are telling us until we start to experience life more because they learn those things as they go. So I’m starting to really understand what that means now. I think experiencing something as life-changing and devastating as a natural disaster, it’s a really deep character challenge, I think, to see the way you react to loss.”
The thieves apparently had an eye for high-end musical instruments. Only the guitars were stolen, according to TMZ. Good luck trying to pawn them.

Cyrus opened up about the fire in an interview yesterday with Ryan Seacrest. She told him:
“Liam posted on his social these love letters that were physically left at our house. We had these big gorgeous letters that said ‘love’ when you drove up to our house and they actually made it through the fire … and that’s literally and physically all that’s left so I felt that was really poetic. You can always rebuild a physical structure, but that love that can’t be destroyed is always there and always stayed strong so that gave me a lot of light during a dark time.”
Cyrus also said her new collaboration with Mark Ronson, “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart,” eerily features a lyric about a burning house. The song, however, addresses the current political climate under Donald Trump.
