Azalea, real name Amethyst Amelia Kelly, signed with powerhouse Universal Music Group, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Araca Merchandise and Araca Productions, all of which have been named as defendants.
Make Millions claims her new record label encouraged her to break the agreement. She now denies ever signing it, according to court papers.
Oddly, Azalea has not been named as a defendant.
At the center of the dispute is former boyfriend, Maurice Williams, also known as rapper Jefe Wine. He’s been trying to cash in on Azalea’sfortune ever since her hit record “Fancy” soared up the charts. At one point, he even claimed they were married.
In 2012, Williams agreed to sell a contract he possessed with Azalea to Make Millions for $25,000, according to court papers filed by lawyers Joseph Dahr Jamail III and Robert Taylor II, both of Houston.
“The assignment to plaintiff includes, but is not limited to, all the recordings, merchandising, copyrights, trademarks, video, likeness, performance and all other rights under the recording contract,” Make Millions, court papers state.
In a separate suit, filed in federal court in Los Angeles, Azalea claims she never signed a contract with Williams. She alleges he forged her name to the existing document.
The lawsuit claims Universal and other defendants were aware of the contract, but lured away Azalea anyway with cash advances.
