The tour will play such middle market cities as Columbus, Ohio, Indianapolis Ind., and Pittsburgh, Pa, but will bypass major markets like Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City.

The closest place for New York City residents to catch the show will be Buffalo’s Ralph Wilson Stadium on July 14. The tour kicks off May 24 in San Diego and will play the bulk of its dates in June and July, wrapping at Le Festival D’Ete De Quebec on July 15.

The Fonda Theater is small by Rolling Stones standards; it seats about 2,000 people. Still, there was grousing from fans who said the tickets to the “secret” show sold out in seconds when they went on sale online at noon the same day.

But celebrities like Jack Nicholson, One Direction’s Harry Styles, Leonard Cohen, Bruce Willis, Patricia Arquette, Eric Idle, Don Was and Joe Pesci, seemed to have no trouble scoring tics.

At last night’s show, Mick Jagger and the band, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Charlie Watts and assorted side musician played all the songs from the 1971 classic album Sticky Fingers.

They’re expected to do the same on tour, although not every song may make the cut.

“Sticky Fingers has, like, five slow songs…. I just don’t know how it would work,” Jagger told Rolling Stone. “Maybe we’d play it and everyone would say, ‘Great.’ But maybe they’ll get restless and start going to get drinks.”

Even last night they punched up the line up with Stones classics like “Start Me Up,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “All Down the Line,” “When the Whip Comes Down”) and other non-band covers.

In a tribute to the late B.B. King, who died last week at 89, the band played his blues tune “Rock Me Baby.” The Stones have often cited King as one of their early influences.

The tour will be in support of a special re-issue of Sticky Fingers, including vinyl and a deluxe box set. The album, released in April 1971, during what’s considered the band’s “golden era,” debuted at No. 1 in the Unites States and United Kingdom.

It was the first released on the band’s own record label and the first to feature the band’s tongue and lips logo, designed by Andy Warhol. It’s widely considered one of the band’s best albums and sold more than 3 million copies.
